History of the Hares

During the Battle of Britain  many Royal Air Force pilots were

lost due to death, injuries, or plain exhaustion. Because of this critical

shortage Air Marshal Dowding created a new fighter squadron. Pilots from

Bomber and Coastal Command, cargo pilots, and volunteers from other countries

formed the 311th fighter wing. These pilots did not consider themselves

killers so they were called "rabbits", timid creatures by nature. However, in

short order  people found out that these "Hares" had teeth! They stepped in

to fill the shoes of their fallen fighter brethren in defense of this noble

country. They were not the best, but they will always try their best.

"The scoundrel on guard, the bully beware,

     Tis the 311th!

         Truly Perilous Hares!"
